  • Passionfruit: Fresh is the champion here! The seeds add a delightful textural pop, and the flavor is just unbeatable. But hey, frozen passionfruit puree works in a pinch – I won’t judge .
  • Hibiscus Tea: Loose-leaf is my jam for the most intense color and flavor. Think jewel-toned paradise! But don’t worry, strong brewed hibiscus tea bags are totally welcome to the party.
  • Honey (or Agave Nectar): Sweetness is your call. I like to start with a little honey and adjust to taste. Honey adds a touch of floral warmth that complements the hibiscus beautifully, but agave nectar works great too.
  • Sparkling Water: Plain or flavored? The choice is yours! Plain keeps things classic, while grapefruit or lime sparkling water adds an extra layer of tropical zing.

  1. Steep that Tea: Fire up the stove and get 1 1/2cup of water simmering in a small saucepan. Toss in 1-2 tablespoons of loose-leaf hibiscus tea and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Strain the tea into a pitcher and chill it out completely in the fridge.
  2. Mix with Passionfruit: Grab your blender and toss in 1/2 cup of fresh passionfruit pulp (or 1/4 cup frozen puree if fresh isn’t an option). Add the cooled hibiscus tea and 1-2 tablespoons of honey (or agave nectar, if that’s your jam). Blend it all up until smooth.
  3. Make it Fizzy: Fill a tall glass with ice cubes – enough to make you feel like you’re at the beach. Pour the passionfruit tea mixture over the ice, leaving a little room at the top for the sparkling water. Top it all off with your favorite sparkling water – plain for a classic touch, or grapefruit or lime for an extra tropical kick. Give it a gentle stir to combine everything.
  4. Tropical Touch (Optional): Want to take your mocktail to the next level of Instagram-worthy? Garnish it with a fresh passionfruit slice and a sprig of mint. Now sit back, sip, and soak up your own little paradise! 😉

You absolutely can use passionfruit juice instead of passionfruit pulp in this Passionfruit Tea Mocktail! Here’s what you can do:

Using Passionfruit Juice:

  • Quantity: Since passionfruit juice is already strained, you’ll need less compared to pulp. Start with 1/4 cup of passionfruit juice and adjust to your taste. The flavor of passionfruit juice can vary depending on the brand, so taste as you go.
  • Consistency: Passionfruit juice won’t have the same texture as the seeds from the pulp, which some people enjoy. If you miss the seeds, you can add a splash of grenadine syrup to the blender for a similar visual effect (it will add a touch of sweetness too).
