Pomegranate Hibiscus Tea Mocktail

After a few too many virgin piña coladas last year, I knew I needed a refreshingly healthy alternative. This pomegranate hibiscus tea mocktail is my answer (in addition many other tea mocktails I shared earlier)!

It’s bursting with flavor thanks to the tart hibiscus and sweet pomegranate, and the touch of fizz from sparkling water makes it feel truly special.

  • Hibiscus Tea: I love using loose leaf hibiscus tea because it gives the most intense flavor, but don’t worry, pre-made tea bags work in a pinch. Look for a vibrant red hibiscus tea – the prettier the color, the prettier your mocktail will be! Trust me, it’s a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds.
  • Pomegranate Juice: We want that burst of fruity sweetness, but without any added sugar. So, skip the sugary cocktail mixes and grab a bottle of high-quality, unsweetened pomegranate juice. It adds the perfect amount of tang and keeps things nice and healthy.
  • Lime Juice: Freshly squeezed is always best, in my opinion! A little squeeze of lime juice brightens up the whole drink and adds a touch of acidity that cuts through the sweetness. It’s like a flavor explosion in your mouth, in the best way possible.
  • Agave Nectar (or your preferred sweetener): I like agave nectar because it adds a touch of sweetness without overpowering the other flavors. But feel free to use honey, simple syrup, or even a splash of fruit juice to sweeten things up to your taste.
  • Sparkling Water: This adds that fun, fizzy element that makes this mocktail feel so special. Chilled sparkling water is key – it keeps your drink nice and refreshing on a hot day. OR, try using flavored sparkling water, like lemon-lime or berry fusion. This can add a whole new layer of flavor to your mocktail and make it even more exciting!
  • Fresh Mint Leaves & Pomegranate Arils (optional): These are the finishing touches that take this mocktail from good to great! The mint adds a lovely freshness, and the pomegranate arils (those juicy seeds) add a fun pop of texture and color. Plus, they’re a good source of antioxidants, so it’s kind of like a healthy little party in your glass!

  1. Brew the Tea: First up, brew that lovely hibiscus tea according to the package instructions. It should only take about 5 minutes. Then, let the tea cool completely for roughly 30 minutes.
  2. Combine the Flavors: Grab a pitcher or a large glass and get ready to mix! Combine the cooled hibiscus tea, pomegranate juice, lime juice, and your chosen sweetener (agave nectar, honey, etc.). Give it a good stir until everything is nicely blended.
  3. Prep Your Glasses: Fill your favorite glasses with ice. Feel free to get creative with your glassware – tall, wide-rimmed glasses work well, but any glass that suits your fancy will do!
  4. Top with Fizz: Carefully pour the flavorful mixture from the pitcher (or large glass) into each ice-filled serving glass, leaving some space at the top. Then, slowly top each glass off with chilled sparkling water. This will help maintain the fizz and create beautiful bubbles in your drink.
  5. Garnishing Time (Optional): If you’d like to add some extra flair, throw in a sprig of fresh mint for a refreshing touch. Pomegranate arils (those juicy seeds) add a fun texture and pop of color, while a lime wedge adds a classic citrusy touch. It’s entirely up to you – have fun and make this mocktail your own!
